We heard of Google Search, Google Instant Search, Google Image Search, Google Voice Search….. and now Sound Search from Google Android. With this you can search for the songs when you hear it while you are traveling in a bus or at a Multi Brand Store, you can immediately click on the Sound Search widget on the Android Home screen and it will recognize the song for you and provide you with a download link (at times)….
“What’s this song?” Starting today, the Sound Search for Google Play widget is available to download from the Play store, so you can start identifying music playing around you, directly from your Android device’s homescreen.
As we know Google always tries to give the best….this one would surely make u amaze as the algorithm they use, the type of search involved in Google is such….
By using this Google Instant Search algorithm while you enter the keyword Google will automatically load the pages that you are likely to visit even before the search results come….hence once u click on the results the webpage will be loaded instantly, i.e no need for you to even wait for few seconds for the webpage to load completely….
At its Inside Search event in San Francisco, Google has announced Instant Pages, a feature that delivers results for searches instantaneously. In the demonstration, Google showed that a search result could take 3-5 seconds to appear on a local machine, but with Instant Pages the result is delivered immediately.
Google Instant is a new search enhancement that shows results as you type. We are pushing the limits of our technology and infrastructure to help you get better search results, faster. Our key technical insight was that people type slowly, but read quickly, typically taking 300 milliseconds between keystrokes, but only 30 milliseconds (a tenth of the time!) to glance at another part of the page. This means that you can scan a results page while you type.
The most obvious change is that you get to the right content much faster than before because you don’t have to finish typing your full search term, or even press “search.” Another shift is that seeing results as you type helps you formulate a better search term by providing instant feedback. You can now adapt your search on the fly until the results match exactly what you want. In time, we may wonder how search ever worked in any other way.
Notice the counter at the bottom of the screenshot showing the time-to-load. Google is able to perform this seemingly instant delivery by pre-caching the pages while you peruse the search results from your query. The pages that are cached are chosen by an algorithm that predicts the results of the search that you are most likely to choose, enabling Google to cache only the most likely candidates.
Faster Searches: By predicting your search and showing results before you finish typing, Google Instant can save 2-5 seconds per search.
Smarter Predictions: Even when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, predictions help guide your search. The top prediction is shown in grey text directly in the search box, so you can stop typing as soon as you see what you need.
Instant Results: Start typing and results appear right before your eyes. Until now, you had to type a full search term, hit return, and hope for the right results. Now results appear instantly as you type, helping you see where you’re headed, every step of the way.
